This project was born out of an observation and curiosity. First: Why did I see mostly white people in the Oak Openings Preserve Metropark? And Second: How does the land history of the Oak Opening Preserve Metropark effect which communities enjoy the park? So was born The History Beneath Our Feet: Finding Systemic Racism Through Land History. The name of the project has been the driving force of this the research. It is all about learning the history that is right beneath your feet. Most of the known history of the area is about Toledo, but the small towns and geographical wonders have just as interesting and complex histories. The project is made up of three parts: A book, a pamphlet, and the exhibition space.
